Leon Gomez, PE, QSD

During a professional civil engineering career spanning more than two decades, Leon Gomez has contributed his expertise to numerous public and private infrastructure projects. He has extensive experience preparing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates for projects related to transportation, water, storm drain, and sewer infrastructure, residential land development, and municipal public works. Since 2004, Leon has served as the contract City Engineer to the small coastal community of Sand City located on the Monterey Peninsula. His work has played a key role in improving community infrastructure, from managing stormwater programs that enhance water quality to overseeing public works projects that strengthen local resilience and sustainability.

In recent years, Leon has provided on-call engineering and technical support services to small communities within Monterey County, with a focus on transportation related improvements, regulatory compliance for municipal storm water and wastewater programs, and grant support services. Recently, Leon managed a project for the City of Soledad, CA to update their Title 22 Engineering Report to support the use of treated recycled water at a city owned park.

Why Harris?

While working for another local engineering firm on the Monterey Peninsula, I consistently saw Harris staff engaged with public agencies, inspecting active construction sites, and participating in local meetings such as the Monterey Bay Chapter of the American Public Works Association. I thought to myself that one day I would like to join an organization with such significant, local presence, and then I did. It has been a great move, and I’ve come to know an amazing team of talented professionals here at Harris & Associates.
