2020
Harris is providing planning, pre-design, and design services for the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering's signature project, which includes improvements to 7th Street from Figueroa Street on the west to Alameda Street on the east. Our scope includes full design of multiple phases of the project, estimating and schedules, assistance with meeting funding/grant goals, and extensive coordination with dozens of stakeholders.
Core Elements
This project will make 7th Street a living, viable, urban environment for pedestrians, cyclists, businesses, and residents, as well as a vehicular conduit. The new, comprehensive, and practical plan will create an improved east-west traverse route for bicycles and pedestrians that anchors downtown, improves safety, and advances mobility for all of the downtown neighborhoods.
The project will also help stimulate business activity and foster a healthier, more sustainable living environment for all users. Considering all stakeholders equally, bicycle facilities and protected bike lines, walkable sidewalks, vastly improved pedestrian lighting, and environmentally-sensitive streetscape will also advance both the pedestrian and transit experience.
Through this comprehensive transformation, more Angelenos will take advantage of and benefit from downtown’s burgeoning economic development in a safe, aesthetically pleasing, sustainable environment. Harris is proud to be part of the team to help deliver this transformational program.
